
Darwina Widjajanti
Darwina has been working for social and environmental mission in more than 20 years. Along her professional career she worked for Center for Policy and Implementation Studies as Senior Researcher for public policy recommendation, The Nature Conservancy Indonesia Office as Senior Advisor on Policy and Resource Mobilization, and for Tifa Foundation as Program Manager on Capacity Building. At LEAD Indonesia Office and where Darwina is in charge as National Program Director, and as Executive Director for Yayasan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan, she has been developing a wide range of new initiatives to promote sustainable development to all sectors (government agencies, private sector, academic institutions, non profit organizations, and mass media). With her key position in all those organizations, Darwina has shown her capacity as a visionary leader with strong managerial capacity, and a spirit of team work. Her all round interest in environmental issues, social justice, education and institutional development, she has a wide network from international level with UN institutions, donor institutions, government agencies, business community and local NGOs at village level. She is also a high imaginative person to develop communication strategy and public relations materials which usually lively and resourceful. Darwina is a very accountable person to write proposal and project reporting.
Darwina has involved in various project in environment, institutional strengthening, fundraising initiatives, and program development. Environmental project she has engaged had macro implications such as Pesticide Integrated Management, Municipal Waste and Recycled Management (training, publication and dissemination), Eco Fish: from cyanide to green eco fish trade – community based marine resource management (project and case study publication). In institutional strengthening activities she has created various modules that strengthened non-profit organizations includes Non Profit Organization Accountability and Transparency (developed the program, training and dissemination), Toward Financial Sustainability Non Profit Organization Training (develop modules and as trainer), Fundraising Strategy for Non Profit Organizations (publication), and Volunteerism Spirit of Yayasan Ibu Peduli (publication), and Sustainable Marine Resources Community Management. Through her initiatives she has developed various new programs to the organizations that she worked with, among others:
Bridging Diversity Program: conflict prevention scheme, Developing Sustainable Business, Bridging Leadership Program: grooming community leaders, Promoting Leadership for Integrated Development: policy toward sustainable development, Sustainable Development Training on the following topics: Corporate Social Responsibility for Sustainable Development, Energy and Climate Change, Toward Sustainable Cities, Food Security in time of Climate Change, Climate Smart Leaders: Urban Youth in Action, and Home for the Future: new life style in time of climate change.
Through her leadership at Yayasan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan since 2004, she has developed various strategy for fundraising that leads the institution to have new partnership with bilateral agencies (SIDA, CIDA, British Embassy), private foundation (Ford Foundation, LEAD International, Darwin Initiative), and various partnership with companies. In social activitied Darwina engages as Board of Trustees, Yayasan Inovasi Teknologi in partnership with Lemelson Foundation, Board of Trustees, Yayasan LINI, marine conservation institution, Board of Advisor, British Council for Young Asian Leaders for Climate Change, and Member of Commission on Education and Communication IUCN 2009-2012.
